 ACAIA LUNAR SCALE

This is a scale designed by ACAIA for brewing espresso. The scale is fast, responsive and accurate. Due to its consistent precision and design, it is an essential tool for a commercial set up that can be used on any espresso machine. 
Acaia Lunar comes in two versions; Lunar original (released in 2015) and Lunar 2021.

The scale comes with a Heat resistant pad, 100g Acaia Calibration weight and a USB type-C charger cable ( Lunar 2021 ) / Micro USB charging cable ( Lunar original ).
                                     
In the display, the scale has Power button on the left and Tare button on the right. Power button is used to Turn On, Turn Off, Switch Mode and Start / Stop / Reset Timer while Tare button is used to Tare weight, Tare and Reset Timer, Enter Calibration Mode, Switch Options while in settings and Save / Subtract container weight.

Both scales are accurate and fast but also look identical when off.  In summary, Lunar 2021 has new features and abilities including a brighter display, a Flow-Rate Indicator and a Tare Save feature.

➨ Flow Rate Indicator: The Flow-Rate indicator is a LED bar on top of the display of Lunar 2021. This helps monitor espresso extraction in real time, allowing for adjustments in order to achieve more consistent and perfect shots. Espresso Flow-Rate is measured only in mode 1 to mode 6.  Unlike Lunar original which has 6 modes, Lunar 2021 has a 7th mode for Pour Over Flow-Rate which helps visualize water pouring speed while brewing allowing for control for perfect pouring. 
➨ Tare Save: Frequently used containers like measuring cups has their weight saved using the Tare Save function. This function is available in Weighing mode and Dual Display mode.

Mode 1: Weighing Only Mode  0.0 
The scale will only display weight.

The scale displays a timer on the left and weight on the right.

Mode 3: Time Starts with Flow Mode 🌢 
The timer starts when the scale detects the flow of espresso. The timer stops when the flow stops.

Mode 4: Auto-Tare Timer Starts with Flow Mode  🌢 ⏹ 
When a stable weight such as a cup is detected, the scale automatically tares its weight. The timer starts when the espresso flow is detected and stops when the flow stops.

Mode 5: Auto-Tare Auto-Start Timer Mode ▲⏹
After placing a stable weight such as of a cup on a scale it  automatically tares the weight and starts the timer. This captures the total time of a shot including pre infusion time.

The scale only performs the auto-tare function.

Mode 7: Pour Over Auto-Start Timer Mode ⏺🌢
This mode designed for pour over coffee is only available in the Lunar 2021.When the scale detects the beginning of flow of water from the kettle, it automatically starts the timer. The timer will stop when the brewing equipment is removed from the scale.

Calibration 

In a Weighing Only Mode and ensuring the weighing unit is in grams, tap the Tare button rapidly and repeatedly until (CAL) and (100.0) appears on the display. Place the 100g Acaia calibration weight on the scale and wait for the scale to execute the calibration procedure. (-End-) will appear on the display when the calibration is complete.

The scale connects with Acaia apps for firmware updates and to enhance brewing experience. The Apps include Brewmaster,  Acaia Coffee, Acaia Updater among others.

The scale is available in various colors including Black, Silver, Cool white, Beige white and Space grey.
